TOURNAMENT HOST: The Nature Coast Lady Anglers (NCLA) is the host of the 9th Annual Fish Like A Girl Tournament.
TOURNAMENT DESCRIPTION: The intent of this tournament is to catch, photograph and release fish caught during official tournament hours. NCLA supports marine life conservation efforts and hopes that you will release all captured fish and other marine life. If you keep all or a portion of your catch you will not be disqualified, but it is your responsibility to abide by all current State of Florida fishing rules and regulations (species, size, slot, limits, etc.). NCLA assumes no responsibility for your failure to do so.
PARTICIPATION AND ELIGIBILITY: Participation is open to all NCLA members. Participants must have a current Florida Fishing License as required by state law.
REGISTRATION & FEES: Registration will remain open throughout the month of September 2026. Each participant must register and pay the required entry fee of $30.00, due when the tournament application is submitted.
CAPTAINS' MEETING: Wednesday, September 2, 2026 at 6:00 PM at Seagrass Waterfront Restaurant, 10386 W. Halls River Rd., Homosassa, FL 34448. Attendance is not mandatory.
LEGAL FISHING METHODS: All fish entered for prizes must be caught and landed by the registered participant, hooked and caught on rod, reel, hook and line. Live bait, frozen bait, and all artificial lures are allowed. Only standard conventional, spin, or fly tackle may be used. Fishing is permitted from a boat, kayak, dock, pier, seawall, shoreline, or by wading.
TOURNAMENT BOUNDARIES: FLAG boundaries are the territorial waters of the Gulf of America, Atlantic Ocean, and Florida Bays for the State of Florida. NEW: Florida rivers and lakes are included for the Conservation Division for freshwater species.
MEASURING METHODS AND FISH ENTRY: All entries must be electronically submitted within 24 hours of each catch, using the tournament protocols. Each entry must include a digital photograph of the fish with the 2026 FLAG Token clearly visible on a measuring device that shows measurements. Redfish w/Most Spots entry requires 2 digital photographs, 1 photograph of each side of the fish. Submissions must also include the Division-Species (Redfish, Spotted Seatrout, Snook, Conservation, or Redfish w/Most Spots), length, date, time, and name of angler. Only one fish per participant, per species, per day may be entered, except for the Conservation Division.
ENTRIES: Each qualifying photo submission equals one entry into the drawing for that Division. Because participants may submit one fish per species, per day, throughout the 89-day tournament (September 3 – November 30, 2026), a participant's number of entries in the drawing will grow with each qualifying catch submitted — improving their odds, not guaranteeing a win. There is only one winner per Division, and each participant may win only one Division tournament-wide. If a participant's entry is drawn as the winner in more than one Division, they will receive the award for the first Division drawn, and a new drawing will be held for the other Division(s), continuing until each Division has a unique winner.
REDFISH, SPOTTED SEATROUT AND SNOOK DIVISIONS: All fish must meet minimum size requirements using the FWC prescribed measurement for each species. Winners are determined by a drawing. See ENTRIES section for drawing rules.
REDFISH W/ MOST SPOTS DIVISION: Any Redfish of any length is eligible. The Redfish with the most spots will be the winner. If there are multiple entries with the same number of spots then those entries will be determined by a drawing.
CONSERVATION DIVISION: Any freshwater or saltwater species of any length is eligible. Fish entered in other divisions are not eligible for entry in this division. Winners are determined by a drawing.
TOURNAMENT TOKENS: All participants will be provided with a Tournament Token at the Captains' Meeting or by email, where it can be copied and used. The official 2026 FLAG Token will be available at the Captains' Meeting on September 2, 2026 at 6:00 PM, Seagrass Waterfront Restaurant. Registered anglers unable to attend should contact Lori Davis or Rita Ranize and a token can be emailed for immediate use.
PHOTOS – GENERAL: The whole fish and the Tournament Token must be clearly visible in each photograph. Printed or altered photographs will not be accepted.
PHOTOS - REDFISH W/MOST SPOTS: (2) Photos - The whole fish with the Tournament Token must be clearly visible from both sides of the fish in each photograph to show the number of spots for the spot count.
SCORING: Winners of the Redfish, Spotted Seatrout, Snook and Conservation Divisions will be determined by a random drawing. Winner of the Redfish w/ Most Spots Division will be determined by the entry with the most number of spots visible. If multiple entries with the same number of spots are entered then the winner will be determined by a random drawing. All prize awards will be determined by the number of participants.
AWARDS AND PRIZES: Awards will be given out at the Annual Christmas Party. When and where: TBD.
